Lev and Anya were thirteen and eleven, and they lived in a space station called Horizon. It was one of the many stations that orbited the Earth, and that belonged to the Galactic Federation. It was also one of the stations that had been attacked by the Black Sun, a rogue faction that wanted to overthrow the Federation and take control of the galaxy. The Black Sun had been responsible for the death of their parents, who were scientists working on a project to create a new source of energy using antimatter. They had also been responsible for the death of their uncle, who had betrayed them and worked for the Black Sun. They had never found out the truth about what had happened, and why their parents and uncle had died. It had remained a mystery to them, and a source of pain and anger. Jen walked back from the Atlantic Ocean boardwalk, feeling the breeze on her face and the sand in her shoes. She loved the Eau Gallie beach front park, a sight so stunning it stopped her to gaze. Scattered clouds, scattered magentas and orange water colored skies. Cotton candy pinks and lavender drapes of galaxies. She smiled as she remembered the poem she had written earlier, inspired by the beauty of nature.  She was heading to the downtown Eau Gallie Art Festival 2090, where she hoped to find some inspiration for her next poem. She had always dreamed of becoming a famous poet, and earning a ticket to the LifeSpan004 Space Travel Program. She wanted to see the stars up close, and write about them in her verses. Lev and Anya were born in a space lab orbiting the Earth in the year 2041. Their parents were scientists working on a project to create a new source of energy using antimatter. They were happy and curious children, always exploring the space lab and learning new things from their parents and the staff. One day, when Lev was eight and Anya was six, their lives changed forever. They were playing hide and seek in the lab, when they heard a loud explosion. They ran to the window and saw a huge fireball engulfing the lab. They saw debris flying everywhere, and some of it hit their window, cracking it. They screamed and ran to the nearest escape pod, hoping their parents were safe. They managed to get into the pod and launch it, just as the window shattered and the air rushed out. They looked at the screen and saw the space lab in flames, slowly drifting away. They cried and hugged each other, wondering what had happened and where their parents were.
